Some of the most compelling contemporary works inhabit a difficult but productive space: they are conceptually rigorous, yet still retain visual excess, ambiguity and affective force.

Contemporary art is often described through conceptual clarity. Yet many important works do not function through clarity alone.

Ambiguity plays a crucial role here. A work that remains conceptually sharp while preserving opacity can continue to produce thought over time.

For advisory work, this is a decisive criterion. It helps distinguish between works that are merely topical and those that possess structural depth.

To work between image and concept is therefore not a compromise. It is one of the most demanding achievements in contemporary practice.
